With the Chinese market’s explosive emergence as both a buyer and seller of products and services worldwide, U.S. and European companies should now begin to create a presence on the Chinese language internet. And while internet usage in China is still far below that of the U.S. and Europe, it is not too early for U.S. and European firms to market to Chinese companies and consumers via the internet. As we’ve all seen from the emergence of the English language internet, first-movers gain a significant advantage over those that follow.
To help companies buy from, sell to and form partnerships with the Chinese market, The Translation Station is expanding the services that it already offers in Japan to China. These include:

Website localization – this could mean simple translation of websites into Chinese, or re-designing them completely in order to be culturally and aesthetically correct.
- Search Engine Optimization (SEO) - as with English language search engines, such as Google, users can increase their chances of being among the top hits on the Chinese language search engines by altering their format and content. The Translation Station will consult with companies to accommodate the search strategies of Zhongsou.com (which has been endorsed by the Chinese government, as well as by China’s three main domestic internet portals Sina, Sohu, and NetEase), Baidu (in which Google has a minority stake), and Yisou (Yahoo’s China search engine).
- Online searching – The Translation Station will conduct online research for companies looking for distribution outlets, resources for outsourcing, products to import, etc., in China.
- Online auctions – Not only has Ebay entered the Chinese market, but there are other internet auction sites that U.S. and European firms may want to utilize for purchases and sales. Not only can The Translation Station help translate/post the information for the listing, but it can translate any correspondence and transactions between the parties.
- Online advertising – Not only do China’s search engines have adwords, similar to Google’s, but their websites carry advertising just like those on the English language web. The Translation Station can help U.S. and European firms design and place advertising on Chinese language websites.
- Online Public Relations – Chinese print and electronic publications receive press releases via email, just like their U.S. and European counterparts. The Translation Station can help with an effective distribution to the targeted media.
